Digital Retinal Scanning

We are committed to the highest standards of eye care and as such we invest in the latest standards of technology so that we can offer you the most advanced eye examination available.

Optos Daytona

This remarkable instrument gives an ultra wide digital image of the whole retina. The Optos Daytona is capable of capturing more than 80% of your retina at the back of your eye in one image whereas conventional methods only capture less than half . This takes just a few seconds, usually without the need for dilating drops. The optomap® helps us to assess the health of your eyes quickly and effectively and is particularly useful for examining children.

Your retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly. This means that, in addition to eye conditions, signs of other diseases such as stroke, raised blood pressure and changes caused by diabetes can be seen in the retina. Early detection means that treatments can be started promptly.

Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Ocular Coherence Tomography or OCT is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the layers that make up the back of your eye. The OCT machine quickly captures both a retinal photograph and a cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye. This helps us to assess your eyes for conditions such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. What’s more the software can detect subtle changes between eye examinations, helping us to continuously monitor the health of your eyes.
